House Passes Bill To Scale Down Medicaid Rolls

Law360, New York (October 27, 2011, 7:19 PM EDT) -- The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill Thursday to amend the health reform law to make fewer citizens eligible to receive Medicaid benefits, after the White House said it would support the measure largely backed by Republicans.

In a 262-157 vote mostly supported by Republicans, the House passed H.R. 2576 to amend the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act's income definition and effectively scale back Medicaid eligibility.
