Cascades Wants Robins Kaplan Off Best Buy IP Suit

Law360, New York (October 31, 2011, 2:08 PM ET) -- Cascades Branding Innovation LLC asked a judge Friday to disqualify Robins Kaplan Miller & Ires LLP as counsel for Best Buy Co. Inc. in an Illinois lawsuit accusing the retail chain of infringing Cascades' patent for a smartphone application that locates nearby stores.

Cascades claims that Robins Kaplan should not be permitted to represent Best Buy because the firm previously represented a company owned by Cascades' president and founder Anthony O. Brown in patent licensing and litigation matters.
