Japan To Ease Limits On US Beef Imports

Law360, New York (October 31, 2011, 6:21 PM EDT) -- Japan reportedly moved Monday to ease restrictions on U.S. and Canadian beef imports it imposed amid fears of mad cow disease, allowing meat from cattle 30 months old or younger to enter the country, up from the current limit of 20 months old or younger.

Citing anonymous government officials, Japan's Kyodo News reported that the country's Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare planned to finalize revised rules by the end of November, with the new policy taking effect in the first half of 2012.
