Korean Legislature Clashes Over U.S. Free Trade Pact

Law360, New York (October 31, 2011, 8:26 PM EDT) -- The long-awaited free trade agreement between the U.S. and South Korea reportedly failed to get through a committee in South Korea's unicameral legislature on Monday, as opposition parties blocked a meeting by the ruling Grand National Party, which was set to approve the deal.

The National Assembly Foreign Affairs, Trade and Unification Committee failed to ratify the trade agreement after members of the Democratic Party and the Democratic Labor Party physically blocked the passageway to the meeting room, according to the Korea Times.
