House Committee Stalls Bid To Subpoena Deepwater CEOs

Law360, New York (November 2, 2011, 4:29 PM EDT) -- The House Natural Resources Committee on Wednesday shot down a request by its ranking Democrat to subpoena the heads of BP PLC and three other companies involved in the Deepwater Horizon oil spill after they declined to testify at a hearing.

In a brief session, the committee voted 17-13 to table a request by Rep. Ed Markey, D-Mass., to haul in the CEOs of BP, Transocean Ltd., Halliburton Co. and Cameron International Corp. to discuss the findings of a federal investigation into the disaster.
