Express Scripts, Medco Deal Slammed By Small Biz Group

Law360, New York (November 2, 2011, 1:33 PM EDT) -- An advocacy group representing small businesses on Tuesday said the proposed $29 billion merger between Express Scripts Inc. and Medco Health Solutions Inc. should be blocked because it would decrease competition and raise costs in the pharmacy benefits market.

In a letter to Federal Trade Commission Chairman Jon Leibowitz, the Small Business Majority said combining two of the three largest pharmacy benefit managers would allow a combined Express Scripts-Medco to charge higher prices.
