Calif. Official Charged With Stealing Funds Sues Over Firing

Law360, Los Angeles (November 3, 2011, 7:25 PM EDT) -- A former Bell, Calif., official facing criminal charges for misappropriating public funds filed a lawsuit Wednesday claiming the municipality breached her employment contract by firing her without notice and severance and by refusing to indemnify her for her civil and criminal defense.

Plaintiff Pier’ Angela Spaccia worked as the assistant for Bell city administrator Robert Rizzo before they and other Bell officials were arrested in September 2010 following the public disclosure of their bloated salaries.
