Law360, Washington (November 07, 2011, 1:49 PM ET) -- AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP sought to convince the Federal Circuit on Monday that it could use its method patents for blockbuster cholesterol drug Crestor to block generic versions of the drug even though the generics makers weren't promoting it for the same use.
AstraZeneca had filed separate cases against 10 generics makers after they submitted abbreviated new drug applications with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to market generic versions of Crestor. The defendants include Aurobindo Pharma Ltd., Apotex Corp., Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc., Teva Pharmaceuticals USA Inc....
