2nd Circ. OKs Sentence For Corrupt Ex-KBR Worker

Law360, New York (November 3, 2011, 3:30 PM EDT) -- The Second Circuit on Thursday upheld the 41-month prison sentence imposed on a former supervisor in Afghanistan for U.S. Army contractor KBR Inc., who took about $200,000 in subcontractors' so-called illegal gratuities.

A three-judge panel rejected Daniel Freeman's argument that U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon had relied on incorrect factual findings and assumptions when she sentenced him in December in New York federal court. Freeman pled guilty in August 2010 to a criminal information lodged by prosecutors charging him with money laundering and accepting illegal gratuities....
