Law360, New York (November 04, 2011, 5:56 PM ET) -- Apple Inc. was hit with a proposed class action in California on Thursday for selling iPhones with allegedly defective reception meters prior to a software upgrade in July 2010.
The tech giant admitted in a letter to iPhone 4 owners on July 2, 2010, that its signal strength meter used a “totally wrong” formula, according to the complaint filed by plaintiff Daniel Donohue. The company said all iPhones displayed two more bars than they should have for particular reception strengths, according to the complaint.
