NH High Court Tells Retirement System To Release Records

Law360, New York (November 4, 2011, 11:09 PM EDT) -- The New Hampshire Supreme Court on Thursday ruled the state's retirement system must comply with newspaper publisher Union Leader Corp.'s request for retiree benefits records because the public's right to know about its tax dollars outweighs the retirees' privacy concerns.

The state's high court affirmed a trial court's ruling forcing the New Hampshire Retirement System to turn over the names and pension amounts for the highest-earning retirees under the state's right-to-know law.
