Online Ad Group Expands Privacy Guidelines

Law360, New York (November 8, 2011, 1:37 PM EST) -- The Digital Advertising Alliance on Monday expanded its principles for online data collection, following criticism from the Federal Trade Commission that the industry had been too slow to tackle privacy concerns through self-regulation.

The trade group's new principles aim to give consumers more choice about data collection on the Internet and to bar the gathering of such data to inform decisions about employment, credit, health treatment or insurance eligibility, according to the DAA.
