AstraZeneca Indicted In Serbia Over Doctor Payments

Law360, New York (November 08, 2011, 4:40 PM ET) -- AstraZeneca PLC, whose South Korean unit was recently fined for alleged kickbacks, has been hit with a criminal indictment in Serbia over allegations that local employees made improper payments to physicians, a regulatory filing by the pharmaceutical giant revealed Monday.

The case stems from allegations by the Serbian public prosecutor that local employees of several pharmaceutical companies made improper payments to doctors at the Institute of Oncology and Radiology of Serbia, an AstraZeneca spokesman said Tuesday.
