Calif. Global Warming Board Riled By Key Departures

Law360, New York (July 2, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The executive director of a California agency in charge of carrying out a landmark global warming law stepped down Monday, claiming Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s office meddled with her job.

Catherine Witherspoon quit days after the California Air Resources Board’s chair, Robert Sawyer, was booted out of his post by Schwarzenegger, who has been heralded this year for his efforts to fight global warming.

"I think they're trying to control it, and they don't have a very cogent vision for what's needed," Witherspoon told Dow Jones....
