Senate Rejects GOP Bid To Nix Coal Plant Regulation

Law360, New York (November 10, 2011, 1:39 PM EST) -- The U.S. Senate on Thursday voted down a Republican-backed resolution that would have nullified an upcoming U.S. Environmental Protection Agency rule on power plant emissions that drift across state lines.

The Senate voted 56-41 to reject S.J. Res. 27, which would have blocked implementation of the EPA’s cross-state air pollution rule scheduled to take effect in December, with six Republicans joining almost all Democrats in voting against the measure.
