Congress Takes Aim At DOI Bureaus' Consolidation Plan

Law360, New York (November 17, 2011, 3:19 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of the Interior's plan to consolidate the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement into the Bureau of Land Management came under fire from both houses of Congress Thursday, with a House committee pushing legislation to block the move and a Senate committee roundly criticizing the plan.
