Obama Unveils Plans To Double Fuel Efficiency By 2025

Law360, New York (November 16, 2011, 3:49 PM EST) -- The Obama administration formally proposed rules Wednesday that would establish a fuel efficiency equivalent of 54.5 mpg for cars and light trucks by 2025.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Transportation submitted nearly 900 pages of proposed rules for publication in the Federal Register. The regulations would toughen fuel economy and greenhouse gas pollution standards for cars and light trucks in model years 2017 to 2025.
