GAO Urges US Agencies To Boot Dodgy Contractors

Law360, New York (November 16, 2011, 5:33 PM EST) -- The U.S. Government Accountability Office on Wednesday urged agencies to bolster staff dedicated to implementing suspension and debarment programs in order to ward off unsuitable contractors and prevent waste of federal funds.

In its report summarizing its recommendations to agencies, the office followed up on its October findings that six out of 10 federal agencies had imposed few or no suspensions or debarments, and said that agencies should also develop detailed procedures to implement actions, asking the Office of Federal Procurement Policy to work with agencies...
