Google, Yahoo Face Heat Over Online Ad Programs

Law360, New York (July 5, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Internet search giants Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc. could face billions of dollars in damages from patent infringement claims filed this week by a patent holding company over their online advertising programs.

Tyler, Texas-based Function Media LLC filed a suit Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas against Google for allegedly violating three patents related to methods for Internet and print advertising. The suit also accused Yahoo of violating two patents covering Internet advertising technology.
