DC Circ. Backs Expanded Gas Drilling In Wyo.

Law360, New York (November 18, 2011, 4:54 PM EST) -- The D.C. Circuit ruled Friday that the U.S. Department of the Interior properly addressed environmental issues in expanding natural gas drilling in an ecologically sensitive area in Wyoming, affirming the dismissal of an environmental group’s suit over the move.

The appeals court held that the Bureau of Land Management took reasonable steps to balance wildlife and natural resource protection against opening the Pinedale Anticline Project Area for more gas drilling, rejecting the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership’s claims that the agency violated environmental laws.
