Law360, New York (November 22, 2011, 3:14 PM ET) -- Toyota Motor Corp. was sued Monday in Texas federal court by a software licensing company that says the Build Your Toyota service the automaker offers its customers infringes the software company's patent portfolio.
Versata Software Inc. said that though Toyota has in the past licensed Versata's patented ThinkDesign software, the Japanese automaker is now using an unlicensed version of the software obtained from an Italian company that is not affiliated with Versata. The name of the Italian company was not specified in the complaint.
