Paralyzed Woman's Award In Cybex Suit Slashed To $44M

Law360, New York (November 22, 2011, 6:06 PM EST) -- A New York state appeals court has slashed the damages award for a woman crushed and paralyzed by a Cybex International Inc. leg extension machine from $65.9 million to $44 million, the exercise equipment maker said Monday.

The appeals court on Friday reduced Natalie M. Barnhard's damages for past and future pain and suffering, and eliminated completely an award of damages for future “care for potential children,” calling it speculative.
