Law360, New York (November 23, 2011, 1:28 PM ET) -- A Florida consumer hit Best Buy Co. Inc. with a putative class action Tuesday claiming the electronics retailer's return policy violates the Driver's Privacy Protection Act by requiring that cashiers take customers' personal information without their consent.
In a complaint filed in Florida federal court, named plaintiff Steven Siegler says the Minnesota-based retailer's policy of swiping customers' driver's licenses when returning a purchased item is a flagrant violation of the DPPA.
