Polish Antitrust Watchdog Fines Telecom Cartel $34M

Law360, New York (November 23, 2011, 2:00 PM ET) -- Poland's antitrust watchdog fined four of Poland's largest mobile phone operators more than 113 million zlotys ($33.6 million) on Wednesday for operating an anti-competitive cartel that sought to interfere with mobile TV operator Info-TV-FM SP ZOO.

Poland's Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, or UOKiK, accused Polkomtel SA, Deutsche Telekom AG subsidiary Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa SA, PTK Centertel SP ZOO and P4 SP ZOO of agreeing to restrict Info-TV-FM's operations after losing a joint bid to the company to reserve a frequency for broadcasting digital video...
