Law360, New York (November 23, 2011, 7:57 PM ET) -- A Missouri federal judge on Wednesday approved Asarco LLC's settlements with BNSF Railway Co. and Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc., allowing Freeport-McMoRan and BNSF to exit an Asarco suit demanding contributions for a $150 million Superfund settlement.
BNSF will pay Asarco $675,000, according to a settlement agreement signed in October. The Freeport-McMoRan settlement was not included with Asarco's motion to dismiss its case, but Asarco told the court that the dispute with Freeport-McMoRan had been settled and should be dismissed with prejudice.
