Court Upholds EU Approval Of Ink Maker Merger

Law360, New York (July 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Europe's second highest court has upheld a European Commission decision to allow the merger of two specialty chemical makers, despite the protest of three European rivals.

The Court of First Instance ruled on Monday that in approving the takeover of the inks and resins subsidiary of Akzo Nobel NV by U.S.-based Hexion Specialty Chemicals Inc., the EC had acted within its boundaries and had not made any errors.
