Tessera Chip IP Win Won't Get High Court Review

Law360, New York (November 28, 2011, 1:30 PM ET) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday refused to hear appeals by Qualcomm Inc., Spansion Inc. and other technology companies of a U.S. International Trade Commission decision that they infringed semiconductor chip technology patents held by Tessera Inc.

Qualcomm and a group of respondents including Spansion, Freescale Semiconductor Inc., ATI Technologies ULC and STMicroelectronics NV filed two separate cert petitions in July, arguing that by affirming the ITC's infringement finding, the Federal Circuit ran afoul of a recent high court ruling on induced infringement.
