Proposed Federal Rule Would Limit Contractor Anonymity

Law360, New York (November 29, 2011, 9:25 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Defense and two other federal agencies floated a new rule Tuesday that would put new limits on contracting officers’ ability to use identifiers that anonymize certain government contracts, in an effort to increase transparency.

The Pentagon, NASA and the U.S. General Services Administration are seeking to amend the Federal Acquisition Regulation to discourage the use of generic substitutes for Data Universal Numbering System numbers, which are used to uniquely identify government contractors.
