Unions Accept Wage, Benefits Cuts From Bankrupt A&P

Law360, New York (December 1, 2011, 5:29 PM EST) -- United Food and Commercial Workers members employed by the bankrupt Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. Inc. grocery stores voted Monday to accept concessions reducing workers' wages and benefits, allowing the grocery company to move forward with its reorganization plan in New York bankruptcy court.

All 13 local union branches with A&P employee members voted to accept the proposed changes, the unions said.

"Our members overwhelmingly supported the new contract and passed it with a wide margin," Local 338 president John Durso said in a statement....
