Lawmaker To Float Clean Energy Standard Bill In 2012

Law360, New York (November 30, 2011, 7:51 PM EST) -- Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., plans to introduce legislation early next year to achieve the Obama administration's goal of generating 80 percent of the country's electricity from clean energy sources by 2035, the lawmaker announced Wednesday.

Bingaman, chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, said his bill would be aided by insight from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, an independent statistical agency within the U.S. Department of Energy that recently finished analyzing the senator's policy proposals.
