Insurers Settle Scuffle Over $44M Hospital Defect Suit

Law360, New York (December 01, 2011, 6:38 PM ET) -- Arch Insurance Co. and National Union Fire Insurance Co. of Pittsburgh, Pa., on Wednesday said they had resolved their dispute over defense coverage for a contractor sued for $44 million over claims that poor construction work had caused damage to a hurricane-struck Texas hospital.

In a joint motion, the parties asked a Texas federal court to dismiss all the claims and counterclaims in the suit with prejudice. An attorney for National Union, the defendant, declined to comment on whether the parties had reached a settlement....
