Canada High Court Takes Corn Syrup Price-Fixing Action

Law360, New York (December 1, 2011, 6:45 PM EST) -- Canada's highest court agreed Monday to rule on whether a lower court was right not to certify a class of end-purchasers of corn syrup alleging Archer Daniels Midland Co., Cargill Inc. and others conspired to fix prices in the sweetener industry.

The Supreme Court of Canada agreed to consider an appeal lodged by Sun-Rype Products Ltd. and indirect purchaser Wendy Weberg challenging the Supreme Court of British Columbia's decision not to grant certification to the proposed class of indirect buyers of high-fructose corn syrup.
