Law360, New York (December 02, 2011, 7:56 PM ET) -- The European Commission and 28 major technology, media and online companies including Apple Inc., Facebook Inc. and Google Inc. have formed a coalition aimed at making the Internet safer for children, the European Union announced Thursday.
In an effort to protect a generation that is going online at increasingly younger ages, the coalition says it seeks to simplify the process of reporting harmful content, ensure privacy settings are age-appropriate and offer a wider array of options for parental control.
