Ad Regulator Tells Verizon To Halt FiOS 'No. 1' Claims

Law360, New York (December 2, 2011, 6:53 PM EST) -- An advertising industry self-regulator told Verizon Communications Inc. on Thursday to stop asserting that its FiOS TV was rated first in high-definition picture quality, following Comcast Cable Communications LLC's complaint that the claim was unsubstantiated.

The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus concluded that Verizon should discontinue the advertising claim because the company was falsely implying that there had been a side-by-side comparison of competing HDTV service providers.
