Aussies Won't Take $225M Metcash Merger To High Court

Law360, New York (December 5, 2011, 6:32 PM EST) -- Australia's antitrust watchdog has decided not to appeal a recent decision rejecting its efforts to block Metcash Trading Ltd.'s AU$215 million (US$225 million) acquisition of a local grocery store chain, it said Monday.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission will not ask the country's High Court for leave the appeal the matter further after the Full Federal Court of Australia concluded Wednesday that the trial judge had not committed any errors that would justify overturning the original decision.
