Skadden Clinches Spinoff Of HSBC Private Equity Arm

Law360, New York (December 5, 2011, 3:09 PM EST) -- HSBC Holdings PLC has continued to spin out its buyout operations in the midst of new regulations, forming Graycliff Partners LP, a New York-based private equity firm with $1 billion under management, the firm announced Monday.


Established by the former management team of HSBC Capital Management, Graycliff is focused on middle-market private equity, mezzanine and real estate investments in the U.S. and Latin America, it said. Sweeping Wall Street reforms have prompted numerous large financial institutions to shed their private equity arms.
