Law360, New York (December 13, 2011, 3:04 PM ET) -- On Nov. 16, 2011, the Obama administration released a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) requiring passenger cars and light trucks to achieve a minimum fuel economy standard of 54.5 miles per gallon (mpg) by 2025.
This standard would be achieved through a combination of new corporate average fuel economy standards issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and new greenhouse gas emissions standards issued by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
