Law360, New York (December 09, 2011, 12:23 PM ET) -- The Ninth Circuit on Thursday refused to review a lower court's second denial of class certification to customers accusing Hitachi Home Electronics America Inc. of selling defective televisions.
Consumers who bought the company's LCD Rear Projection Television claim a defective television component, known as the optical block, causes video and color anomalies on the screen and interferes with the image. They challenged a California federal court's decision in September to bar a California class of Hitachi customers.
