LS Power Drops Plans For Ark., Ga. Coal Power Plants

Law360, New York (December 12, 2011, 8:20 PM EST) -- LS Power Development LLC agreed Monday to cancel plans to build coal-fired power plants in Georgia and Arkansas, a decision that dovetailed with a settlement in a suit brought by the Sierra Club over pollution at an affiliate’s facility in Texas.

LS Power agreed not to build the proposed 1,200-megawatt Longleaf Energy Station in Blakey, Ga., ending a 10-year battle with the Sierra Club and other groups that opposed the plant, and dropped more recent plans for the Plum Point 2 project in Osceola, Ark....
