Harrisburg Council Appeals Decision Tossing Ch. 9 Bid

Law360, Wilmington (December 12, 2011, 10:20 PM ET) -- Harrisburg, Pa.’s city council notified a Pennsylvania bankruptcy judge on Saturday that it is appealing her decision dismissing the capital city’s Chapter 9 petition, which set in motion a state takeover of efforts to fix the city's finances.

The city council will appeal U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Mary D. France’s ruling to the Pennsylvania federal district court, according to a notice lodged by Mark D. Schwartz, an attorney for council members that defied Harrisburg’s mayor and state officials by seeking court protection in October.
