6th Circ. Upholds Liz Claiborne's Win In Age Bias Suit

Law360, New York (December 15, 2011, 2:09 PM EST) -- The Sixth Circuit on Thursday refused to revive a former employee's age discrimination suit in Michigan against the parent company of Liz Claiborne stores, saying the retail chain provided legitimate reasons for not promoting her to a higher position.

In a unanimous opinion, the appeals court affirmed a lower court’s decision to grant summary judgment to LCI Holdings Inc. on Regina Provenzano’s claims that the retailer discriminated against her by promoting a younger, less-qualified employee to a store manager position.
