Insurer Balks At Coverage In EA Antitrust Actions

Law360, New York (December 15, 2011, 6:28 PM ET) -- Allied World National Assurance Co. busted its way Thursday into a coverage suit in California over underlying antitrust class actions concerning the use of college athletes' likenesses in video games, alleging it need not cover a licensing company for the litigation.

The insurer filed an intervenor complaint in a suit originally launched by National Union Fire Insurance Co. of Pittsburgh, Pa., and The Insurance Co. of the State of Pennsylvania against Electronic Arts Inc. and The Collegiate Licensing Co. in federal court in October. The policies...
