Ind. Governor To Be Deposed In IBM Contract Suit

Law360, New York (December 16, 2011, 7:28 PM EST) -- An Indiana state judge on Thursday ordered Gov. Mitch Daniels to be deposed regarding a dispute between the state and IBM Corp. over the early termination of a $1 billion contract to overhaul Indiana's welfare system.

Judge David J. Dreyer granted IBM's motion to compel the deposition, concluding that an Indiana law allowing the governor and other state officials to be excused from obeying a subpoena to testify is ambiguous. The judge said that precluding the governor's deposition in this case would be illogical.
