Hannaford Yanks Beef In 5 States Amid Salmonella Fears

Law360, New York (December 16, 2011, 7:09 PM EST) -- Maine-based chain Hannaford Bros. Co. is recalling fresh ground beef in five states amid concerns over salmonella contamination, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said Thursday, describing the recall as "high-risk."

The ground-beef packages that are part of the Class I recall have sell-by dates of Dec. 17 and were sold at Hannaford stores in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont, according to the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service.
