Calif. Sues Fannie, Freddie For Info On Foreclosed Houses

Law360, New York (December 20, 2011, 7:38 PM EST) -- California's attorney general on Tuesday fired off two suits against Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, asking a state court to compel the mortgage lenders to answer its questions about foreclosed properties in California.

In two complaints filed in San Francisco court, California Attorney General Kamala D. Harris said the questions sought information on core police power issues, including the protection of public safety, health and welfare, and she urged the court to force Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to provide answers.
