Sears Faces Another Video Signal Processing IP Suit

Law360, New York (December 21, 2011, 7:37 PM EST) -- Sears Holdings Corp. was hit Tuesday with another suit in Illinois federal court by semiconductor firm Oplus Technologies Ltd. alleging that Sears’ sale of D&M Holdings Inc.’s DVD players is infringing patents for video signal processing.

Oplus, formerly owned by Intel Corp., claims that the Hoffman Estates, Ill.-based retailer and Japan-based D&M are violating two of its patents — the same ones asserted in a suit Oplus filed earlier this month against Sears over several models of Vizio Inc. televisions.
