Judge Won't Nix $327M Verdict Over J&J's Risperdal

Law360, New York (December 21, 2011, 1:00 PM ET) -- A South Carolina judge refused Tuesday to overturn a jury's $327 million verdict in the Palmetto State's suit accusing a Johnson & Johnson unit of downplaying ties between its antipsychotic drug Risperdal and diabetes.

Judge Roger L. Couch, presiding over a South Carolina circuit court, denied Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc.'s bid for either an altered judgment or a new trial. He also denied a separate bid for either judgment not withstanding the verdict or a new trial.
