Law360, Los Angeles (December 21, 2011, 8:13 PM ET) -- A California judge on Wednesday denied Universal Music Group Recordings Inc.’s bid to pare down a breach of contract suit over alleged unpaid royalties from sales of albums by rapper The Game, saying a record producer's claims should make it past the pleading stage.
“This is all about process,” Judge Michelle R. Rosenblatt told UMG’s attorney, Aaron Wais of Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP. “You’re asking me to do something that’s beyond what I can do on a motion for judgment on the pleadings.”
