8th Circ. Won't Reboot Sex Bias Suit Against Xcel

Law360, New York (December 22, 2011, 6:59 PM ET) -- The Eighth Circuit on Thursday upheld a lower court's decision tossing a sex discrimination suit brought by a group of female debt collectors for Xcel Energy Services Inc., finding the women had failed to establish wage discrimination claims under the Equal Pay Act.

The appeals court ruled that the four women employed by Xcel subsidiary Northern States Power Co. had failed to establish pay discrimination and that the differences in salary could be explained by factors other than sex.
