UPS Pilots Sue Over Exclusion From FAA Fatigue Rules

Law360, New York (December 22, 2011, 4:20 PM EST) -- The union representing United Parcel Service Inc. pilots filed a petition with the D.C. Circuit on Thursday to challenge the Federal Aviation Administration's decision to exclude cargo pilots from new rules aimed at preventing dangerous fatigue.

The FAA on Wednesday unveiled its final version of the rules which mandate shorter shifts and longer rest periods for pilots flying commercial passenger planes.

The agency said the rules do not cover cargo airline operators because the rules would be too costly to implement when compared with the benefits...
